Ginger

In the Toronto Area!

Ginger is a sweet, quiet, affectionate girl who's estimated to be about 3 or 4 years old. She was abandoned by a criminally neglectful backyard breeder when she needed medical attention and was no longer "of use" to them.

We dealt with her skin & ear infections successfully and she's been diagnosed as Hypothyroid. Fortunately this is an easy fix with twice a day very inexpensive medication. Hypothyroid dogs on meds will live a happy, normal lifespan. She's been spayed just recently and we're about to have her teeth cleaned so she'll be in perfect shape for her new home. Our vet has found Ginger may need antihistimines during allergy season and luckily, she is one of the 30% of dogs for whom this simple solution works brilliantly.

She's a happy, very stable dog who bonds quickly to people. Her willingness to trust humans is quite amazing considering the cruel neglect she suffered but her spirit seems unbowed. She's just a nice, lovely girl and now she needs the forever home that she so deserves.

Potential adopters need to be aware that cocker spaniels need monthly professional grooming. Daily walks and a safe, fenced in yard are a necessity as is feeding a high quality dog food. We feel Ginger would do well in a home with children due to her gentle, calm nature and she gets along very well with other dogs. We've not had an opportunity to see how she is with cats. Her general temperament is so good we'd be very surprised if she wasn't fine with cats.
